Hayama Blended Whisky is made by Sasanokawa Shuzo Co., a small distillery which has start making malt whisky since 1946.  Witness the craft of one of the Japan’s ji-whisky producers, Sasanokawa Shuzo. Sasanokawa Shuzo has been making sake and shochu since 1765. They added whisky production to their core line-up in 1946. The family is considered an honourable one, and Japanese Whisky fans might remember that Hanyu / Ichiro went bankrupt, Sasanokawa Shuzo came to the rescue to save the inventory. Today they still produce their popular line of classic Japanese spirits on site, along with a range of whisky brands distilled locally and acquired. The distillery locates at Fukushima where is blessed by its clean ultrapure water from melting snow due to the unique region climate in the northeast part of Japan, making it to be an ideal environment for whisky production. The Japanese whisky industry calls it as a rising star in today’s spirits world.

Tasting note: Distinctively fresh and with a hint of orange blossoms on the nose. Followed by oak, caramel, and bake vanilla biscuit. Characteristic fruity note, vanilla and a bit peppery on the palate. Finish is brief and a dash of vanilla.
